HOW TO MAKE A GRANNY SQUARE BABY BLANKET
- Crochet one hundred and twenty squares with three different colors of yarn. Forty squares of each color. (That is typically a total of nine skeins of yarn)
- Next, connect the squares so that the pattern is every other color. Every row that you will make for this blanket will be ten squares long. Connect the squares back to back with a single crochet on one side.
- After you have connected all one hundred and twenty squares. You are going to create a border that goes around the blanket with a single crochet three times with each color. Then after you complete the border of the blanket. You are going to create the shells as the final layer of comfort.
Steps to making the shells for the granny square baby blanket:
- You chain two, do two double crochet, chain one, do three double crochet, skip three stitches, and then you repeat this process all the way around the blanket. After all of the shells are completed, you will single crochet in every shell around the entire blanket, so that the shells pop. Lastly your blanket is complete.
